Poetic-Verses

'' They're No Better Off Than Before ''

In Libya they're killing each other for fun,
The rule of law's at the point of a gun,
Though Gadaffi's gone the in fighting's not done,
Their actions they refuse to deplore.

Egypt's people are tearing each other apart,
The devastation leads straight to the heart,
From violence each side will never depart,
Peace they refuse to restore.

In Iraq our forces intervened,
For years the atrocities we had screened,
Though to a dictatorship this country leaned,
It was rotten to the core.

With Hussein gone we thought there'd be calm,
But murder is rife it's like Vietnam,
Now all day dead bodies they embalm,
For each other they have no rapport.

In Afghanistan corruption is the norm,
The Taliban murdering is true to form,
When our forces leave there will be a storm,
Integrity is going to be a chore.

Though there'll be joy on the day we are leaving,
It's those we sacrificed we are deceiving,
Our forces families are the ones left grieving,
As their loved ones we cannot restore.

In the face of reality we must face the facts,
You cannot paper over religious cracks,
Our intervention hasn't stopped their heinous acts,
There's far more killing in store.

Our heroes fought and died to set them free,
We ousted their dictators, who did not agree,
When we look back now what do we see,

‘' They're No Better Off Than Before ‘'
