Purity of Heart
Purity of heart
is to will one thing.
To steer a straight course
like a navigator,
freely doing what is right
for its own sake,
turning away from evil,
finding joy in doing good.
It is finding knowledge
pleasant to your soul,
ever seeking, inquiring
and craving wisdom.
Knowing that all truth
is God's truth.
Not being wise
in one's own eyes
but reverencing God,
the source of all Truth,
in all your getting
to get understanding
better than rubies or emeralds,
better than silver and gold,
the Wisdom of the Lord,
to guide our feet
away from the paths of death
to peace and blessedness
and life eternal.
