Passover this year will be April 15 − 2014

PASSOVER AND EASTER

Passover is a festival lasting for eight days
It is celebrated in the spring in the Hebrew month of Nissan

It is the celebrating of the Israelites
Leaving after four hundred years of slavery in Egypt

God told Moses to go the Pharaoh and tell
him to let His people (Israel) go

The message was "Send forth My people  
So they may serve Me"

Pharaoh refused to obey God's command
Thus God send ten devastating plagues upon the Egyptians

God told Moses to tell Pharaoh the last plague
would be the killing of the first born of man and animals

A lamb without spot or blemish was to be killed
its blood was to be put on the door post of the Israelites homes

They were to eat the lamb whose bones had not been broken
in preparation of the coming day when they would be led from Egypt

At midnight the Death Angel passed over every home
where the Lamb's blood was placed

There was loud crying and heartache that night in Egypt
Pharaoh chased the Israelites out of Egypt

The Children of Israel were spared by God and freed from slavery
This holiday is called Passover because God passed over the Israelites

To Christians the Passover Lamb is a symbol of Jesus Christ
His body was bruised and beaten but not one bone was broken in His body

The Lamb is a symbol of Jesus Christ on the cross for us
His blood flowed down the cross cleansing us from our sins

His death on the cross
gives us who believe in Him everlasting life with Him

The grave could not hold Him
on the third day He rose from the dead

This is what we call Easter
A time of Resurrection of Our Savior Jesus Christ who is alive

I pray for my Jewish friend a blessed Passover
I Pray for Christian friend and family a blessed and holy Easter

*Easter and Passover always happen very close together
