Visions

Thou Shalt

Down through the ages
people have longed
to be somebody.
The majority were nobody,
slaves, laborers, tradesmen,
they did not have names or titles,
they could not read or write.
They were treated like what
it is not polite to mention!
A poor heart broken slave woman
cries out to Jesus, speaking for
all down trodden humanity:
"When I've been called
everything but a child of God!"
But what is man?
To the wise in their own eyes,
a great ape, spawn of mindlessness,
but to our god, the Creator God,
we are lost ones waiting to be found,
to be addressed with thou.
Thou, the personal, not impersonal
The language of love, of intimacy
lost in modern translations.
Man is the being God created
for fellowship with Him,
who walks with us, talks with us,
lovingly commands us,
calls us His beloved children,
the persons He crowned
with glory and honor,
whose hearts are restless
till they find their rest in Him!
I
Psalm 8:4-5 King James Version (KJV)

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
