I found books of my early poems. Not a natural
poet my poetry often comes from a days happenings.
This next was written shortly after my son's graduation
from College. We sat so proud as he came to us in cap
and gown and his world begins. I thought of the day
we had our date walking near the park and I asked if
you would marry me:
Blue skies, a brook--a bumble bee;
On a walk we took--you and me.
I wrote, " I love you!" on your palm,
Out a ripple--came back so strong.
There a ladybug, a tiny garden snake,
Things on which our dreams we make.
And pity those who have never known,
A fetus--an embryo--then fully grown
With life and death always so near,
The love we've known is always clear.
A child of ours that came from our seed,
Well soon face this world in time of need.
Now his life begins in cap and gown,
Begun that day our love was found,
As it began with an Especial look,
On the day we walked near a sparkling brook.
