Visions

How Far to Bethlehem?

There's a star in the sky
to show the way!
How far to Bethlehem?
a weary seeker asks.
"Twenty four thousand,
nine hundred and ninety miles
the way you're headed.
Only ten miles,
if you turn around
and head due West,"
said a wise old man.
"Stupid old man! What do you know?"
So the brash Unbeliever
trudged ever onward,
never finding the place
where the Savior lay,
that True Light,
Light of the World!
But he wrote books about it,
how he had sought Bethlehem
but in a long, long life
could never find it
because it was all a lie
and those who claimed it was true
were all liars he bitterly complained.
When he died, he cried out:
More light! More light!
And the darkness closed in on him
and claimed him for its own.
How far to Bethlehem?
Not far at all,
just follow the Way
to the way,
the Truth
and the Life
