I Never Knew You

You painted me as the bad guy
Though I didn't start the fire
No, you did that all by yourself
To have what you desire.

With recklessness and disregard
You burst full steam ahead
Until at last and at great cost
Your selfish lust was fed.

It truly is disturbing
To see that side of you
And even worse, hard to believe
That you can't see it too.

So, it seems I never knew you
And there's nothing left to say
But I was not the bad guy
No, I just got in your way.
