It's a social giveaway
Meet the neighbors
Need a little of that lately
Seven families
Buyer says,
"How much is this?"
I say, "How much well you pay""
He wants me to set the price
Reluctantly says, "Five dollars"
I say, "Good, then it's two and a half."
We have become friends he buys a little more
It was going to the local Methodist Church
I always buy something
Sell it the following year
I see something they bought from me next year
Kids get anything they touch for free
Last year I held a baby for this lady
Did I mention I love kids
Fifteen minutes later she came back
Had gone to another garage sale
Forgetting she had handed me her baby
I just don't understand the world situation
Gangs, thugs, muggings and hate
All races and religions come to my garage sale
If it didn't start that way we walk away friends
One guy said to me, "I been coming ten years."
And he asks where Debbie is. He knows her by name
Oh, and the money I made, One hundred twenty dollars.
I bought a tent I well sell next year for $10.00
A stereo that I have to store as backup for thirty
And breakfast and lunch was sixty dollars
If you bought something you had to take something else
I think we could solve some of the worlds hate problems
If we just had more garage sales
This year after the sale is over and the Church donation
from all my family members all I have to do is break boxes
Next week go to garage sales and gather for next year
People see me and say, "I know you every year I go to your
annual garage sale and visit my neighbors I don't talk to.
the rest of the year."
