A County, A Lake; Same Name

Born in the shadow of a great rocky mountains,
Raised in a county, in a big little city with a lake.
Kind of boring that each one has the same name.
But I haven't found a place I'd rather claim my stake.
This is the same place where my ancestors came.

I have traveled all over this great country.
From a ocean in the east, to a sea in the west.
Seen the crops in the middle states, still kinda plain.
But, here in this state is where I hang my family crest.
Here in the county, a city, with a lake with the same name.

I've seen the great big cities, Chicago, New York, LA.
Been in the desserts heat, seen Vegas twinkling lights.
Seen the vineyards in the California's great bright sun.
But it is here what everything seems to feel just right.
Here people try to be polite, when all is said and done.

I've seen the beauty of the yellow stone, majestic sites.
Our mountains are full of beauty, pines, lakes, streams.
Gods paintbrush has painted sunsets in the evening.
An endless sky, above farmers and ranchers dreams.
Over here we still allow that kind of wishful dreaming.

Not saying, that there isn't other nice cities out there,
Cause I've seen beauty, in the plains, on both our shores.
It could be great living on the plains or a house by the sea.
But here in Utah, I really couldn't ask for anything more.
This is my county, that is my lake; same name, it's all for me.

Those are my mountains, each river, every stream.
My Arches, my sunsets, my green fields, my wetlands.
That is my snow, my autumn thunderstorms, spring rain.
Some may say, you can find that anywhere, please understand.
But, these are mine, I've seen others they aren't the same.
