Lord, I want to tell you it's sometimes hard to do
When the first cheek is still turning blue.

It's hard to let someone hurt the other too
But it can show we are humble and true
That we really are trusting in you
You said "blessed are we, when persecuted for righteousness"
The insults still don't hurt us any less
It hurts all over deep down within
Sometimes it's so hard not to sin
Especially when someone we love so true
Say such mean things about us believing in you
When the insults come because we witness to them
Chance for their repentance look so slim
Lord, please help us see things from your view
Please help us know just what to do
We can't lash out as others might try
So we just go off some where and cry.
