Poetic Verses

Rainbow's End

The epitome of innocence
reflecting in your eyes;
a perfect whiskered face
to conjure up my sighs

A soft and silky coat of fur
of peanut butter spots,
and on your little nose
brown freckle dots

You had an amazing tail
that you could fluff like a plume
at times when you were scared
of what you thought impending doom

So innocent and childlike,
always wanting my attention;
you made the perfect companion
and family extension

I'll miss your daily curiosity
of my coffee cup,
and waiting for a food handout
or something to lap up

But most of all I'll miss
your greeting at my door,
and the way you snuggled on my lap
to let your love out pour

I hated saying good-by to you
my little furry friend,
and look forward to seeing you again
at the rainbow's end
