A LUCID BREAK

Heat of a late July day
Has me nodding
In this chair
Asleep and awake
At the same time
Close my eyes
It's bird sounds
With sprinklers
Clicking in the
Background
Hum of a fan
Traffic far off
Puts off it's
Mantra
Like  a million hungry flies
Buzzing 'round a dead
Carcass
Warm air touches
My face and arms
Radiates a love of
Comfort as though
My mother's hugs do
Up comes the sound
Of a weed eater
At the nursery
Next door
Those people work
Five or six days a week
In tip-top shape
The touch of heat
And potpourri of sounds
Combine, infuse
Collaborate, start
Dancing together
Laughing as good
Old friends...
...So just a few more
Seconds with my
Eyes closed
Before this
Lucid break
Must end
