My Brother, My Twin, My Best Friend

Brother, My Twin, My Best Friend
By D. Cody Herring
Dedicated To Jason Mecham

I am your friend, always will be, always have been.
if you asked me for you I would fight until the end.
Split a dollar seventy-five. so we together, both can eat.
Walk together side by side, my stride matches your feet.
I know in life's trials, you always seemed to have my back.
whenever I fell short, it was you that helped pick up my slack.
Even in silence, you gave encouragement that I needed.
Love stories that we wrote in each of our lives we heeded.
Our music although amature, it was ours it was great.
You were there when I learned to drive, laughing loud.
If anyone asked who you are, I would answer so proud.
As unlucky as I may be, I'm lucky I have such a friend.
Although time, life and distance has brought us apart.
The miles and miles between us really is not that far.
It seems as of late I hear from you every day.
One of the greatest parts of technology I might say.
We both have families, we seemed to be doing fine.
Both have things that come and take up our time.
So I repeat if anyone asks who you are, I say until the end.
That is my brother, my twin, that there is my best friend.
