The tortoise is on holiday so look out!
For he sure likes to be out and about,
Going where he shouldn`t makes his day
But I must keep him out of harm's way.
We seek him here we seek him there
He just wanders off without a care,
He heads for the pine trees to explore
If he went into them I`d lose him for sure.
Then there`s a sixty foot diameter bush
And he makes for that in such a rush,
He got into it by about 3` the other day
I crawled in to get him it was the only way.
Still not satisfied he headed for the car,
But once again his adventure I did mar,
Then he beat me to it and under it he went
And went to sleep there quite content.
I reversed the car slowly and got him out
He is hell-bent on mischief without a doubt,
I would cure his wanderings once and for all
Made him a den out of which he couldn`t crawl.
Back home now in the garden he can`t escape
But he still manages to get himself into a scrape,
I have to keep checking what he`s getting up to
You would think I had nothing better to do!!
