Some journeys are meant for us to travel alone
far beyond life's chaos, mortar, brick and stone.
The heart it seeks those things lost so long ago.
A need flowers fate planted and has continued to grow.
Places they had shared, precious moments lost in each other
and photographs are reminders of vows made to one another.
Life changes direction and life leaves sooner then it should.
One wish she has she would bring him back if she could.
Solace found in memories of a man who called her wife
yet there is great torment in knowing she despises her life.
Timeless moments pressed between her heart strings
constant reminders of life's joys and tragic things.
So many years have come and gone she scarce felt them pass
as her mind spirals backward she will raise her glass.
A toast for those who for a brief time gave her pleasure.
She drinks her courage as she remorsefully locks up her treasure.
Somewhere in the night sky she watches the moon growing
and the wind recants a hollow melody as it is blowing.
A circle closes. The finale waiting behind an elusive curtain
something still remains she longs to go beyond the vast certain.
To David Hulen from your wife who loves you even after death. May angels guard your sleep love till we meet again.
