Welcome to My life in the shadows

NATURE'S LAW

One spring I watched a pair of Robins
From the back bedroom window
Day after day
As they carefully weaved their nest
Twig by twig,
And bit by bit
Fitting it snugly
In the upper boughs
Of our old grape arbor.
I remember my first peek
Of their powder blue eggs
And the day when the chicks first cried
For their supper.
It amazed me
How well the pair tended
To the every need
Of their little ones
And I waited for the day
They too would take to wing
With parents
Becoming one with wind.
Then she came
And all I could do was watch
Repulsed
At the grisly primeval instincts
Off the family cat- - -
And yet I could not find it in me
To love her any less
The way I believe
That God still loves us
After our brutalities.
