WINE AND GATES

Silence's Golden Question To All?

heaven so proud?
given the keys of society
to wish upon a well seen once, than never allowed
all for a space of gentle impiety

the lacking of a song
formed once in the briefness of our stay
to sit with another, and see the hidden life so strong
turn into heeds of hell, the push of any to say

mirth in the way, the opulence of golden any
to wish upon a falling star, that stared too long at the earth
the sound of rushing and the fussing of could, a bit too many
souls of selection in the path, who know no sip of heart from worth

the taste of a new drink, in my hand
was this curiosity of finished things, the laugh of a round eye?
the terror of knowing the truth is in a finished heaven, apart from the land
is the legend of waste of the human spirit, the least of worries or a wishful lie?

same yearning as yesterday, as a still unopened box of life will attest
the chaste with the sassing, the morass with the ask
the myriad voices to choose from, and none know the more for lest
will we be a horror to ourselves and others one day, a box with a mask?
