Visions

Angel of Grace

She died in his arms.
as he clung frantically
to his beloved wife,
desperately praying
God would bring her back.
He held her, cradled her,
while her body turned
cold and ashen gray,
dead beyond all doubt.
While he continued to pray,
she looked up from her deathbed
to see a beautiful, glorious angel
bathed in light
in the corner of the room
holding out his hand,
he said "Peace I give unto you."
She floated up to him,
looking back she saw herself,
lying in her husband's arms,
her mother praying fervently,
Then with the angel beside her,
she floated onward,
beyond the earth
where she saw a heavenly river
the river of life,
sparkling with crystal water
more like gems than the water we know.
Higher and brighter she went
toward the very throne of God,
light upon light, brilliant, blinding!
From the light above she heard God say:
"I'm not finished with your life yet."
And with these words,
she was jerked back to her own body.
Brought back from certain death
by God who is able to do
exceeding, abundantly
above all we ask or think.
A husband and a mother,
tears of grief become tears of joy!
