In VainIf in my life, I don't help others Nor ease the burden for my brothers It would be as well, I had not lived When my work on earth is done My life will have been in vain, I will have lived In vain Going my selfish way, not caring for my fellowman Doing spiteful things, hurting those I can If I'm to blame for a frown on someone's face If I don't do for them as I want them do for me Then my life will have been in vain, I will have lived In vain A small gift could make a difference in a life A kind word may make someone's day worthwhile Aray of sunlight can be found in a smile It may be in our power to lift a soul today So our life won't be in vain, We will not have lived In vain We should live each day as its the last Do something for others, plant a good seed Bring joy into the world, we can if we try Laugh with happy ones, comfort those who cry Then our life will not have been in vain, We will not have lived In vain Norma Duncan copyright 1980/2003 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
