Visions
Three Gorges
Three gorges,
twelve peaks,
region of mystery and enchantment,
fairytale landscapes,
houses, bridges, temples,
nestling among rugged,
craggy mountain tops,
deep valleys and rushing rivers,
swirling waters and brooding depths,
soft, dreamy mists and rain
like falling tears of happiness,
nature's poem
in water and stone,
written for the soul!
This poem is based on my trip to China a few years ago,
a region which has inspired many Chinese poems for
its magic, mystical, haunting beauty!
The Three Gorges region is a scenic area along the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) in the People's Republic of China, which is classified as a AAAAA scenic area (the highest level) by the China National Tourism Administration.
The Three Gorges span from the western-upriver cities of Fengjie and Yichang in Chongqing Municipality eastward-downstream to Hubei province The Three Gorges region attracts global attention due to the Three Gorges Dam, which is firmly changing the culture and environment of the river and Three Gorges region.
