O, why had she not listened?
Why had she shut her ears?
Why had she chosen to ignore
The signs these last few years?
They'd pointed to The Rapture!
It's not like she hadn't heard.
The truth was easily accessed...
It was written in The Word.
Had the preacher man not preached it?
She’d heard it all her life.
Her mom and dad had warned her
She’d regret the sin and strife.
Her sister tried to pray with her…
Her brother begged her please.
But she wouldn’t give in to the love
That kept them on their knees.
It isn’t that she’d not believed
She reasoned in her mind…
She’d not denied there was a God
So why had she been left behind?
The scriptures she had always heard
Were screaming loud and clear!
Did not the devils, too, believe?
O, yes, God had left her here!!
She clearly knew the reason!
She had not followed The Son!
She thought she’d do it later on
But, first, she wanted to have fun.
Sunday mornings found her sleeping…
She had no time for Him that morn.
After all, those late night parties
Left her feeling much too worn.
The Bible she’d been given
Was only gathering more dust.
And she'd been so frustrated
Every time her mother fussed.
She'd fussed back with excuses
She had no time to read that Book.
Where was it now? She frantically
Tore up her room to look!
Rushing back into the kitchen
She stared at their empty places!
The clothes they'd worn piled on each chair!
How she longed to see their faces!
But they were gone! There was no way!
No way of any kind!
The Son of God had taken them
And, sadly, she'd been left behind!

~~Author's Note~~
It is the wee hours of Sunday morning. I am
wide awake and thinking on scenes of the movie
"Left Behind" that I watched on Saturday night.
I feel compelled to leave my nice, soft bed and
write this poem.I'm tired...and there's church
to attend today...
but, okay, Lord, help me with the words and
I'll write the poem.
Matthew 16:2-3
He answered them, "When it is evening,
you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky
is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy
today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You
know how to interpret the appearance of the sky
, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
James 2:19
You believe that there is one God. Good!
Even the demons believe that--and shudder.
1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God has not destined us for wrath,
but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Luke 21:26
But stay on guard at all times, praying that you may
have strength to escape all these things that are going
to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven
with a cry of command, with the voice of an
archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of
God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive, who are left,
will be caught up together with them in
the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and
so we will always be with the Lord
2 Corinthians 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will
sound, and the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we shall be changed
