Thoughts on War
Supposing they gave a war
and nobody showed up?
That would be very remarkable!
Supposing Hitler gave a war
and nobody showed up to stop him?
Supposing the colonial Americans
decided to put up with the tyranny
of the British parliament?
Supposing we Americans put up with
American seaman being impressed
into service on British ships?
This what the War of 1812 was about?
Why don't we just sit down and
negotiate to solve our problems?
We tried that with Hitler and Stalin.
We got some really attractive promises.
Fulfillment? Well that was something else!
We do not live in an ideal world,
We live amidst corrupt humanity
and must employ less than ideal solutions.
Thank God for the men and women of
our armed forces,
their readiness,
their sacrifices,
their courage,
their heroism!
Thank you all for
land,sea and air
branches of our military!
Thank you for keeping me,
my friends, my family
safe and free!
With Veteran's Day in mind
you might like to look at
White Christmas.
