An Unopened Book

One Step Closer

Needles sticking out of the junks arm.

Filling his blood with unforgiving poison.

Leaving him laying there eyes vacant.

Face distorted no room for emotion.

Another fix, another hit, a step closer.

Step closer, closer to the close.

Step closer, to closing his eyes.

Closer to never opening them again.

Step closer, to where he won't step away.

Step closer to answer for all his sins.

Bottle placed in a drunken hand.

Filling his blood with mind stunting drink.

Unreasonable anger, as he lifts his fist.

To strike an unnecessary blow against his wife.

Another senceless violence, one step closer.

A gun held in a mans trembling hands,

Pressures of life crashing down upon him.

There is no way out the thought poisoned his mind.

The stress of his world became to much to handle.

Pushing him to this act, to the extreme.

Taking it now to end it, one step closer.

Two hands clasped together, prayer on his lips.

With no other place to turn to; he kneels.

Pain and heartache has lead him to this.

Words of help and forgiveness purely spoken.

A last hope from his dwindling faith.

One last effort, he takes one step closer.
