'' Our Ignorance Is Something We'll Rue ''

When I look you in the eye,
Should judgement apply,
Or should I first try to assess,
My first thoughts are, who, what, why,
What for is anyone's guess.

Are you good or bad?
Sane or mad,
How will I ever know?
What is happy what is sad?
The truth may come as a blow.

Female or male,
Succeed or fail,
Do I have the right to judge?
Your opinions will I try to derail?
Which direction, will I nudge?

Will religion matter,
When we have a natter,
Will my view of you suddenly change?
Maybe you'll make me as mad as a hatter,
Your thoughts I may well derange.

The colour of your skin,
Will I sneer or grin,
What makes us feel this way?
Surely goodness comes from within,
So why should colour cause such affray?

Which god is right?
Do they ease your plight?
Is mine going to be better than yours?
One day perhaps we'll all see the light,
The facts are what a deity obscures.

You've done nothing to me,
Is what I must see,
Knowledge is what we need to accrue,
Otherwise humans will end up as debris,
