Faith
There are many kinds of faith.
Abraham believed and
it was accounted to him
as righteousness.
In the New Testament
Pistus is the Greek word
and it never means
belief without evidence.
It means basically
believing someone's promises,
Faith is not belief about God,
it is belief in God.
Childlike faith,
not childish faith
like nothing is the
cause of everything.
A child trusts his father
because he has been cared for,
loved, treated kindly.
Faith is God's work in us
which changes us,
our hearts,
our character
and our minds.
by the illumination
of the Holy Spirit
by which we become
new creatures,
truly the children of God.
Abraham believed God's promise,
he pulled up stakes and followed
where he was led
seeking that heavenly city,
a quest not realized
in his lifetime
but having seen it from afar
trusting the faithfullness
of God's Word,
God who cannot lie,
whose Word stands forever!
