Visions

Waiting on the Shore

A young man dying of meningitus
in slow,painful stages and finally,
drawing his mother close to him said:
"Mother I will be the first of our family
to reach that beautiful shore.
Please sing for me 'Pull For the Shore.'"
She couldn't do it, dissolved in tears.
"That's alright, mother, you will when I'm gone.
But I will stand on that shore,
waiting for you, all of you!"
Then he passed peacefully away!
Ah! So many of us,
left behind by our loved ones!
They are waiting there for us
on that beautiful shore,
waiting to greet us,
waiting to embrace us,
waiting for us to hear
the sound of a voice now still,
the sight of a face which
once brightened our lives,
the light in a loved ones eyes
which made our earthly home
a place of warmth and peace,
so far as humanly possible!
Waiting on that beautiful shore!
