Visions

A Form of Godliness

A little girl, eight years old,
sent on an errand for her parents,
was attracted by the singing
to an open air gospel meeting.
She ended up having
God's love explained to her.
Very much interested and moved,
she explained it to her parents,
both nominal church goers,
Her father was furious,
he beat her brutally
telling her never again
to attend such a meeting.
But two weeks later
she forgot her father's command,
so taken up with wanting to hear
God's love for her. She was converted.
When she returned home telling of this,
she was beaten so brutally she was bleeding.
She never recovered and when about to die
asked her mother to cut a piece
from her bloody dress. She explained:
"Christ shed His blood for my sake,
and I am going to show Him
that I shed my blood for His sake."
Thus she died, holding firmly to the scrap.
Her dying testimony, leading
to her parents conversion.
Truly: "The blood of the martyrs is seed!"

We should all take to heart the danger of
Paul's admonition in 2 Timothy 3:5
"Having a form of godliness, but denying
the power thereof: from such turn away."
We should beware of being church goers
but not real believers, having a faith
about Christianity, a faith about Christ
but not a real faith in Christ.
