You were once far away,
Now brought near by the blood;
Regretting as you pray,
And baptized through the flood.
So He is our peace,
In His body He made;
Building of walls to cease,
No need to be afraid.
The wall is broken down,
Hate and hostility;
Came from a thorny crown,
That brought us enmity.
An end to the demands,
Found in what Moses taught;
No longer were commands,
Through Jesus that we sought.
One new humanity,
In Himself peace was made;
Through Christianity,
Hostility will fade.
With peace also comes love,
That brings you back to God;
Blessings flow from above,
As you honor and laud.
One body by His cross,
Killed through hostility;
To profit from the loss,
Through your humility.
Christ came with the Gospel,
Of peace for all of you;
Spreading to the people,
Of the peace that is true.
To those who are both near,
And who are far away;
No longer need to fear,
Rather trust and obey.
