Visions

Dreary Winter Day

The late rising sun arose,
scarcely brightening
the clouds of gray.
It would set all too soon
as the storm moved in,
the chill air colder
in the rushing wind.
A winter day,
bleak and cheerless!
How wonderful to come in
out of the blustery storm,
to warmth and shelter,
hot food and warm beds!
But how even more pleasant
to have a loving companion,
someone to talk to,
to share things with,
that light in her eyes
banishing the lonely cold
and the dreary dark!
