Visions
Heat
Sam Centigrade and
Joe Farenheit,
the guys who invented heat.
Things were really tough
for ordinary people before
this great invention.
The rich could go South,
the poor had to tough it out.
They took baths in ice cubes,
they punished wrongdoers,
making them do penance
kneeling in the snow.
The scientific majority
opposed their findings
as they have every
advancement of science.
Old timers opined:
"If freezing to death
was good enough for
my grandfather,
it's good enough for me!"
finally things settled down
and people began to accept
this strange innovation,
even the scientific community.
Sadly, the two men fell out
over what to call temperatures
Farenheit or Centigrade.
They quarreled endlessly,
then went their separate ways
never speaking to each other.
Later some guy named Celsius
highjacked the Centigrade name.
It was all very sad.
