This pain I feel is great
deep inside of my heart,
mourning the loss of my parents
I had hoped we'd never be apart.
It's worse for me today though
not getting that special phone call,
it was from my Mother every year
but I try to stand straight and tall.
No message from my Father
talking to him through the internet,
he used to send me smiley faces
I try my best not to fret.
I can't help, but think of them
especially on my special day,
hearing their voices, seeing them smile
I do my best to keep the tears at bay.

Today's my birthday and I have been feeling pretty down and I can't seem to shake it. I lost my Father in 2007 and my Mother in 2008 and my Grandfather in 2011. If they were here, I would have had a smile on my face from ear to ear all day.
