Canada strikes Gold again
during the men's hockey game,
defending their golden ticket from Vancouver
living out another golden dream.
Off to a good start
Canada takes four shots,
Sweden gives it their all
their defense was right on spot.
During the first period
I thought there would be penalties,
each player being slammed against the boards
flying down the ice, like a stormy breeze.
Faking left, faking right
both teams were on their toes,
putting up an extremely good fight
behave boys, gently as she goes.
Seven minutes and five seconds left in first period
Toews sneaks in and strikes the first goal,
I can tell that Sweden's in it to win
fighting hard from within their soul.
I am sitting and watching this game
Sweden's been putting up a good fight,
taking shot after shot at Carey Price, our goalie
I give them credit, trying with all their might.
The Swede's are a really good team
I've never watched them play before,
staying so very close to our net
wishing and praying, to even the score.
Period one gets over with
time for a deserved fifteen minute break,
both teams are skating hard
they are alert and so wide awake.
The first period was a good one
it has truly opened my eyes,
to see how well both teams were doing
it really took me by surprise.
Time for the second period to begin
I can't wait to see what happens next,
they're skating through the period fast
off the glass, the puck reflects.
Sweden is still going strong
just hoping for a goal in the net,
I keep losing track of the puck
but, they might get a goal yet.
Single players surf down the ice
just like no one else is there,
Canada's agility on their skates
is extremely beyond compare.
Four minutes and seventeen seconds left
Crosby sneaks to the left of the Swede's goalie,
his very first goal of this Olympics
Canada's fans are filled with glee.
The Swede's are still trying their best
battling it out with team Canada,
I'm going to wait, till this period's over
to grab myself a hot cup of java.
The crowd seems eerily quiet today
which comes as a big surprise,
Canada is still going strong
they're definitely going after their prize.
Third period finally begins now
the score is two to zero,
the Swede's are still going at it hard
they're hearts are caught in limbo.
Ten minutes fifty-six seconds left
before the final period is through,
Kunitz makes the puck fly through the air
it hits the railing of the net, goes in on cue.
This was a really good game, I thought
both teams gave it their very best,
the Swede's are walking away with the silver
Canada's going home with Gold, they have been blessed.
