The Belfast Wall

The Belfast Wall                      April 11, 2015

The wall of hate separates my land

Built by the forces of division and shame

Dividing our people, behind the wall unfree

Ireland for the Irish, my future friend like me

When we meet I want to ask you after we say hello

Can we take down the wall of hate, say yes, never no

Free the Belfast children, every single one

Take down the wall of hate, the sun will shine again

I want a life with Irish friends, enjoy the morning sun

I want to share my life with the children on the other side

Bricks and steel hide the sun

Bricks and steel of that foreign Hun

Who lives there, say you care

I want to meet them I give a care

The stranger on the other side

Share a wish, walk with pride

Join the children behind this wall

Do it now, the wall must fall

The foreign people planted our land

Borders in our island divides our land

I want to meet my friend next door

Walk together, share the Irish shore

Many Irish people died without goodbye

Taken from us we both still cry

The wall of hate separates our land

Built by the forces of division and shame

Dividing our people, behind the wall unfree

Ireland for the Irish, my unfree friend like me
