Bobby

Bobby May 29,2015
I often think of Bobby, why did he have to go
In his final moments proudly saying no
Alone with his thoughts with laughter in the air
Sixty-six days of torture, Irish people care
You stood proud, no uniform to wear
A blanket wrapped around your body, freedom in the air
Twenty-seven short years you made it clear
I wear no prison uniform with my comrades very near
You gave your life for freedom, Goodbye my friend so dear
The road of no return was the way you beat them all
No crime committed, you answered Ireland's call
Thirty thousand votes for freedom, Ireland made a choice
They stripped you of your status, ignoring the people's choice
I miss you my friend Bobby although we never met
You left with your comrades, this we still regret
If Ireland could have you back to walk in freedoms way
The children of Ireland would greet you, so sad you went away
I often think of Bobby, why did he have to go
In his final moments proudly saying no
