 Romantic Notions By Ivy Rose      144756 Poems Read

It's late and I am lonely;
I think of you with tears on your face.
Why do I try others on
and why do they never seem to fit?
Because you are my love, my soul,
and I can't be with another.
When I lie down beside someone else,
they are only a phantom in the night.

I can't see or feel with them
but lying next to you I see truth.
We are one in body
and we are one in mind,
all the others are the lies.
You love me even when I err
and you see who I really am;
yet you love my imperfections.

I am not a saint nor a martyr,
my only claim is that I love you deeply.
Even in my wanderings, we are connected
by a bond that cannot be broken.
I am your breath as you are mine
and that is all that we need.
So when I come back broken and contrite,
please let me be filled with all that is you.
