If Glasgow Could Be Ireland

If Glasgow Could Be Irish        June 9, 2015

If Glasgow could be Ireland with shamrocks growing free
Our flag would fly above us, how happy we would be
The Soldiers song all day long with hand on heart so proud
Every single Glasgow Bhoy and Ghirl would sing our song out loud
The little streets of Derry would be the Gallowgate
We'd stand united in civil rights, we remember seventy-two
The Falls Road in Belfast would guard the London Road
Black flags would fly at that special time on every Glasgow road
Crossmaglen with the fighting men guarding every street
They've not gone away; they're still around never to be beat
Glasgow Green without the Queen, you all know what I mean
We will celebrate mother Ireland there, Orange, White and Green
George Square would belong to James Connolly our leader of sixteen
Glasgow loves our heroes, we remember every one
A son of Ireland from Scotland taken from us by them
We remember them all, welcome home, we'll do it all again
Every street in Glasgow with our rivers flowing free
“The Town I Love So Well” how happy we would be
Glasgow supports a united Ireland, thirty-two and free
A little piece of Ireland fell from the sky one day
It landed on the Gallowgate, our flag is here to stay
If Glasgow could be Ireland with shamrocks growing free
Our flag would fly above us, how happy we would be
