The price of Sun
They come over the road
Knowing the journey took walking through snow
Desert parching dry
The ocean covering westward static back to the Midwest
For the road northeast
Following the Atlantic tropical days
The darkness confusing the mind
Searching the light for the soul
Seeking words that speak silence in peace descending
Above the waters and snowing days
Exile dreams over the horizon
Owning souls claiming their birth
They come, sometimes crawling into passage
The price of sun
One room parched with cement wall shimmering
Prison bounds across air breathing life
Walking away from morning sun into recourse
Promise affluence as their steps cross the ocean wide
Road where towels and pillows wait for their aged callous hands
others see looking down
no one asks where is your pillow and towel that wash dreams
Into exile
