One Christmas I Remember

Years ago when I was only thirteen years of age we celebrated the holidays.
It was a good time for us since we were able to receive what we wanted for Christmastime.
There was Mom faithful as ever preparing the Christmas meal.
There was ham, collard greens, and other good things to eat.
Mom was the best cook ever for our palates never desired anything from anyone else.
The thing that was bad about this time was my overeating and becoming sick.
I had ate too much food at one time and it was heavy on my stomach.
I remember Dad having to get up in the middle of the night and tend to me.
I was feeling really bad at this point and felt I shouldn't have done what I did.
Mom's cooking had nothing to do with it for it is always right and was this time.
It was my stupidity that allowed me the outcome that was dealt.
Learning from my mistakes is what happened and I am all the better for it.
This is a true happening and never was repeated for Christmastime.
