i excused myself from the war
to come back here,
back to istanbul
to pour a glass of cleaner water
to drown in
i can't see and
breathing is such a hassle,
i say to the night air and the moon
high above myapartment
i'm so selfish and needy,
i'm so wrong,
i'm not what i wanted to be
and i've done things i never wanted to do
forgive me if i
trip over the words of prayer or
let tears fallen for worldly grievances splash onto the sajdah
forgive me if i break and can't
put myself back together in time
for my flight
out of istanbul
