Nighttime calls

The moon rose high into the sky that night
It's glow seeping into those hearts not of pure
It's long tendrils of blue reaching out to plight
The moon has a shadow, hidden behind a door
The wolf calls to its fallen son or cub
The howls pierce like knives through the night
The unknown is a mystery such as a lidded tub
It's piercing sound reaching out to plight
That illuminated face, beyond that frame
The hooded stalker creeping through the night
A knife in a shaky hand, prepared to cause pain
His glowing eyes slowly reaching out to plight
Nighttime calls, proud, irresistible to the weak
It stretches over mountains and darkens lands of bleak
