lost beneath the endless stars of alberta By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
i had seen
the tears small in her eye,
in her shaking hands
the bible opened to the psalms
and on her lips
a call,
quiet as midnight,
words of vacant desire.
father,
i heard her say,
where in the night,
where on the rolling plains,
under pallid moonlight
will i ever be able to
fully weep?
and i dared to
remember the moon and the water
and the spread of our souls,
giftsexchanged in holiday ritual,
giftsgiven in true
affection.
and she,
standing at the
threshold
in a rustling wind,
unable to give more tears
talked about finding
peace in calgary.
and with the sound
of a motor
and in the sound of the wind
disappearing forever,
lost beneath the endless
stars of alberta.
