i emerge
i emerge . . .
skinned, burned, blistered and torn by my own self effacement
eyes, glazed over with memory's dust mixed with my feral tears
tongue, swollen and haggard from so many "i'm sorry's"
hands, empty because i stupidly, ignorantly let her go
legs, barely enough strength to stand, but i somehow do
feet, anchored in the rotted stench of my own despair
heart, who the hell am i trying to fool?
i no longer possess what you would call a heart
... but i emerge
skinned, burned, blistered and torn by my own self effacement
eyes, glazed over with memory's dust mixed with my feral tears
tongue, swollen and haggard from so many "i'm sorry's"
hands, empty because i stupidly, ignorantly let her go
legs, barely enough strength to stand, but i somehow do
feet, anchored in the rotted stench of my own despair
heart, who the hell am i trying to fool?
i no longer possess what you would call a heart
... but i emerge
