Two Sides of the Cross

There are two sides of the cross
Society today its significance lost
Goes beyond physical appearance
To far deeper spiritual experience

Some view the cross as an offense
To them its meaning makes no sense
They see it only as an event in history
One man died horrible death end of story

Many people see the cross as redemption
God's plan of forgiveness and salvation
Jesus' blood paid for their sin at Calvary
God raised Him from the dead in victory

Yet there are others in between on the fence
Jesus died for everyone is their sole defense
Doing good deeds for them is what counts
God is the Judge who will settle the accounts

Middle ground is a very dangerous place
How much good works will win life's race
It becomes an endless cycle of uncertainty
There is only one way to know with certainty

Which side of the cross are you on friend
How each of us answers will all depend
Have we personally come to the cross
Seeing ourselves bound for Hell and lost

Jesus' blood paid the ransom for all our sin
It is still up to us to choose to invite Him in
By faith as we accept His sacrifice on Calvary
Not by our works He seals our eternal destiny

12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
