Tell Me Why

Tell Me Why                  May 22, 2016

Look me in the eye, tell the Irish people why
You tried to change our culture, that you can't deny
Tell us why you killed the people of our nation
Freedom for the children, stop civil rights discrimination
An island in the sea with people living free
You came, you criminalized my land including me
You build castles in the sky, you made the Irish nation cry
We have lost our sons and daughters, tell the Irish people why
The Irish way of life, with the famine and the strife
We were thirty two united facing our troubles in our life
You came to our country with English power and might
You marched on Irish streets, you tried to dim our light
You wrecked our Irish homes, we ourselves alone
Tell me why this happened, then kindly go on home
Look me in the eye, tell the Irish people why
You tried to change our culture, that you can't deny
