I am just a stone
I live in this save mart
parking lot
I have been kicked and
thrown over and over again
these humans come through
out the day
they come in different forms
some tall and short
fat or skinny
they also come in different
colors
some are clean and smell good
and some are dirty and smell
of beer
I come from the Stanislaus
river
I would lounge by the rivers
edge
the cool water would wash
over me when the boat would
zoom by
I was happy there
a young girl picked me up
and took me home
she pasted googly eyes on me
and some stringy stuff called
hair
she took me every where
the movies, restaurants,
and even school
she made me my own pillow and bed
she kissed every night
I was happy here
then one day she brought me
to the grocery store and
without realizing it she dropped
me here in this dirty parking lot
a dumpster diver stole
my googly eyes
my hair fell off
and a homeless man whizzed on me
I hate it here
I miss my river home
I miss my pillow and bed
I miss that little girl
most of all I miss the kisses
but reality is I am just a
stone
