Once Life Was So Simple ........

Once life was so simple
We all knew right from wrong~
Back when girls were girls n boys were boys
An we all sang those same old songs~
When we all had old time religion
And we trusted the man in blue~
We were respectful towards our parents
But those days are almost gone its true~
We were all brought up with manners
And we stood for what we knew was right~
And parents then walked tall n proud
As they knew where their children were at night~
Children then did not give birth to children
They enjoyed their childhood so~
And were not in such a hurry
To be adults and pretend to grow~
So wonderful life it was then
And so simple it is true~
But then so much was accepted in the name of God
And out the window common sense it flew~
We then all had all our values
We had integrity as well~
Our word back then was our bond
Compared to then our now is hell~
But here we are with stupidity
Like political correctness and the rest~
And there goes almost every word in the dictionary
Because things that'd shock God now accepted and with zest~
There's no longer respect for our aged
Or anyone for that matter at all~
And Judges often insult common sense with slaps on the wrist
While parents and loved ones often grieve n climb the wall~
But there has to be one day a day of reckoning
And things will all have to go back to when~
When we all knew such peace of mind
And hopefully common sense returns agen~
Once life it was so simple
When politicians were there for one n all~
Back when if you were feeling ill
At no charge a doctor he would call~
When money and greed was not God on earth
And people actually cared and did whats right~
And one could sleep soundly with your doors and windows open
When for justice once all would fight~
When children could once know a grown up
Would protect them to the end~
And everybody cared about each other
But then it all went round the bend~
The not so bright got into government
And the not so clever became do gooder's too~
And they set out to make up new professions
So they could get well payed for doing nil its true~
Money became our very salvation
And decency went for a walk~
And now we old school types of older people
Can only look back at back when and talk~
At a time when once life was so simple
And no body was afraid of hard work back then~
When boys were boys and girls were girls
How I'd at times gladly go back ag'en~
When ones religion was a personal choice
All kept their religions in their own private way-
Back when one would jump a fence to help another
And all were one regardless come what may -
