The Backyard Of My Life

The Smoking Gun

Down a dusty road on a dark dakota day
Dreams were destroyed and blown away
The crime of the century by a man with no name
A move made only by a pawn in the game
But who fired the smoking gun
To take down the chosen one
To send those secrets to the grave
To tie up the truth and treat it like a slave
The end of the beginning has only just begun
Tell me who fired the smoking gun
On a crooked trail on a silent night
Hope was lost faith give up the fight
With weapons of war two eyes took the aim
A bullet into the back of the brain
But who fired the smoking gun
A lone ranger or the fallen one
To silence the people then take control
But they can never take your soul
We will rise up again like the setting sun
Theres no need to fear the smoking gun
You heard it ring out the world stood still
We were all taken prisoner against our will
But we shall be released we shall be released
Down the path of peace on a sunny afternoon
Our liberties and freedom were taken to soon
Told to surrender by those with no name
But maybe there not the ones to blame
Where theres belief the battle can be won
Lets put a flower in the smoking gun
Fear and hatred cloud our judgment
When the world could live as one
Dont be afraid of the smoking gun
The people are stronger then the smoking gun
