The Backyard Of My Life

The Lonely Grave Of Daisy Hawkins

She had nothing not a penny to her name
Lived and died alone nobody ever came
To keep her company or ask about her day
The flowers in her garden had wiltered away

But once upon a long ago her life went hand and hand with pleasure
Those summers seemed to never end like they where made to measure
Now its the winter of discontent
Those glory days were never meant to last forever
Only the lonely know how she feels
Only the lonely know how she feels

She would keep an eye on the world going by her window
Looking through her scrapbook of people and places she used to know
She would take a walk in her mind down memory lane
Reliving her past again and again

But once upon a time
Children searched for treasure
On Christmas mornings
In lazy days of leisure
Now its the dawn of discontent
The gold rush is over it was never meant to last forever
Only the lonely know how she feels
Only the lonely know how she feels

No tears were cried when daisy died
she was buried at the bottom of the hill
No one ever visits no one ever will

She had no family she had no friends this was where her story ends
now its too late to say your sorry that wont do somehow
shes at peace and shes not alone anymore now

But once upon a long ago
Her life went hand in hand with pleasure
Those summers seemed to never end like they
were made to measure
Now its the winter of discontent
Those glory days were never meant to last forever
Only the lonely know how she feels
Only the lonely know how she feels
Only the lonely know how she feels
