Thatcher Day (Thatcher 3)

By Richard Harries

Mr Peter Bone
Do you live alone?
In a rarefied place?
You are a disgrace
To attempt to hoist onto the nation
A celebration
Of Thatcher and her work
You are a complete out of touch berk

Do you not know that even though the Tory toffs love her so
(That did not stop them stabbing in the back and making her go)
That beloved as she is to you
Her impact is something that many rue
She is beloved of the privileged rich
But to the rest of the country she was a dogmatic bitch
She is the most divisive figure in politics of her time
Compared to her most even think slimy Blair was fine
Was your intention to turn a public holiday
Into a day of protest and widespread violent affray?
You cannot see past your patrician nose
And to chaos would the country expose

So to waste parliament's time
With a Private Members Bill was a crime
You wanted a Thatcher Day?
Thank god the country said NAY!

It's been talked out
‘Thank goodness' I wanted to shout
I would rather work with no pay
Than have a Thatcher holiday!
