 ramblings and things

smallstepsmadpotepotriemantheartfulcodgerscogspeaksvolumes
I am a veteran
From a very different War
Here to pay respect
To those gone on before

To Jack Harrison VC
And all those brave men
Who answered the whistle
And again and again and again
Climbed over the top
Into withering fire
To die in No Mans Land
Or hanging on barbed wire

No Land Fit For Heroes
When it drew to it close
Just the tears of the bereaved
They shed millions of those.

My medals are just chocolate
But I'm wearing them today
In tribute to those heroes
Who have long passed
away.
